Willie Myrick was lured away from his Atlanta driveway to the suspect’s car with cash. He was quickly abducted. The kidnapper drove around the city for three hours while Myrick sang “Every Praise” by Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Hezekiah Walker non-stop. The suspect eventually kicked Myrick out of the car in East Point, after he refused to stop singing. The boy used a local woman’s phone to dial home.
For the brave young boy’s 10th birthday, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in southwest Atlanta held a town hall meeting in his honor. When Walker caught wind of the news, he flew to Atlanta to meet Myrick and his family.
“I just want to hug him and tell him I love him,” Walker told WXIA-TV. Tears streamed down the 10 year old’s face as he and Walker sang “Every Praise” together.
The suspect is still on the loose, with a $10,000 reward for his arrest. He’s described as a male in his mid- to late-twenties with dreadlocks. He was driving a gray four-door Honda Civic with no interior carpeting and exposed metal flooring.
