Television producer, writer, and three time Emmy Award nominee Shonda Rhimes was named one of Time Magazine’s “100 People Who Help Shape The World.” In that case, with so much influence, I would venture to say that Ms. Rhimes has declared a war on marriage.
Upon having a conversation with Oprah Winfrey on OWN’s “Super Soul Sunday,” Rhimes continued to say how freeing it is to confess that she does not want to get married. She tells Oprah she does not want “a husband in HER house.”
It cannot be certain that she literally has an agenda to end all marriages (as we know she is an avid supporter of gay rights/marriage) but, we do know that she knows she has influence. And, she openly expresses that she always wanted kids-with no husband in the home.
With a surge of successful black women already struggling to find a husband-I imagine that a band of black women will come together and also decide they too, do not want to get married either.
Rhimes is known for her hit series show Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to get away with Murder and the reoccurring theme has been infidelity, adultery, and failed marriages. Is this a coincidence?
Many may argue “it is just a show” or “she and her writers are not intentionally showing bad marriages to influence anyone,” however Rhimes has also confessed that she continues to show gay relationships to shape the world and to normalize homosexuality. Could it be that she continues to show powerful/successful black women without husbands as well?
Caution to the believer that find themselves entangled in her suspense filled television shows-she has an agenda. Caution to the believer that has fallen prey to the wicked convoluted story-lines that tug at your heart strings and emotions; causing you to develop an affinity for and strongly defend characters that live a life of sin.
Guard your gates (eyes, ears, mouth) against the plan of the enemy. 2 Timothy 4:3 warns the believer that there will come a time when “people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear”.
Caution to the believer that will hear the testimony of influential and wealthy unwed black women who proclaim that the reason for not getting married was because they chose their career first. “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy.” 2 Timothy 3:2
Keep a strong prayer life and ask God to show you the truth so that you do not fall prey to the enemies devices and deception.
